I've been a 10 plus year group leader with Friendship Tours & The Ship Shop and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for day trips, overnights and cruises. We can always be sure that if the "Friendship Family" is involved it will be a organized, safe and enjoyable trip.

Come and join us for our visit to the charming Maine Coast - Boothbay Harbor, Sunday - Tuesday, September 10 - 12, 2017.

Day 1:Our first stop is a visit to the very beautiful Fuller Gardens for a docent led tour. An elegant 1938 formal estate designed by the Olmstead Brothers. This ‘Seaside Gem’ features hundreds of varieties of gorgeous roses, English perennial border, Japanese garden framing a pond and more...

Now we continue along the coast, lunch stop enroute, to arrive at Boothbay Harbor to spend 2 nights at the Boothbay Harbor Inn located right on the Harbor, near the footbridge ... Enjoy lovely rooms and fabulous views. Welcome Dinner tonight in the Inn’s waterfront restaurant.

DAY 2: Enjoy buffet breakfast before visiting the amazing Coastal Maine Botanical Garden, an unexpected oasis on the Maine Coast. We will be welcomed by Bill Cullina, Executive Director and past CHS Speaker. Special Guided Tour of the Botanical Gardens highlighting the spectacular gardens, native wildflowers, majestic ledge & stonework, pristine forest and tranquil waterviews along 128 acres. We will be guests of the Botanical Garden for a Special ‘Conversation & Lunch’…a docent/horticulturalist will talk about ’The Past, Present & Future of the Gardens’ while we have lunch and then answer any questions we may have.

We are off for a private garden visit being arranged by Bill Cullina & The Boothbay Harbor Garden Club. What a treat this will be to be invited to one of the areas private gardens. Return to the hotel to freshen up before heading out for dinner and evening at leisure. Stroll around town or just relax at the Inn.

DAY 3: After our buffet breakfast, we bid Boothbay Harbor good bye…we begin our southward trip with a stop at the Hamilton House and Gardens in South Berwick. A National Historic Landmark, this C 1785 Colonial Revival home overlooking the Salmon Falls River was the home of Emily Tyson and her stepdaughter Elise. Our docent led tour will show us through the house including the whimsical murals in the living room and parlor. The tour will then continue to the lavish gardens.

Off for a fabulous lunch stop! A traditional Maine Lobsterbake at Foster’s is really a step back in time. Lobsterbakes in Maine are a time-honored tradition. Menu: Award Winning Clam Chowder, Steamed Cultivated Mussels, Maine Lobster, Sweet Corn On The Cob, Red Bliss Potatoes, Roasted Onions, Rolls & Hot Drawn Butter, Foster’s Own Blueberry Crumb Cake! Head for home with great memories of our Maine Coast Trip!
