Jun 5, 2021 - Jun 7, 2021
Jun 5, 2021 - Jun 7, 2021
The 2021 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, the region’s most looked-to gardening attraction will move outdoors for the first time in its nearly 200-year history, making this a memorable experience that will incorporate the beautiful, lush landscapes of FDR Park in Philadelphia.
The Show’s theme for 2021: HABITAT: Nature’s Masterpiece
Depart aboard our deluxe motorcoach for LUNCH AND GUIDED TOUR OF THE MORRIS ARBORETUM of the University of Pennsylvania. The arboretum is a new kind of ornamental garden inspired by John and Lydia Morris’ extensive travels through Europe and Asia and include both native and exotic flora and art from around the world. Visit some of the arboretum’s most beloved attractions like the Fernery, the Rose Garden, the Katsura tree, and the relatively new Tree Adventure. CHS’ good friend and former speaker, Bill Cullina, will greet us. He was appointed as the F. Otto Haas Executive Director of the arboretum in 2019 after leaving the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden. WELCOME DINNER AT MAGGIANO’S LITTLE ITALY, right next door to our hotel marks our arrival. Overnight accommodations at the MARRIOTT DOWNTOWN located in the heart of Philadelphia, just steps from Reading Market!
Our morning begins at the 192nd PENNSYLVANIA HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY FLOWER SHOW. As the nation’s longest-running horticultural event, this Flower Show is a stunning and educational look at the world of floral design and gardening. The Show’s theme for 2021: HABITAT: Nature’s Masterpiece will explore the beauty of life through nature’s kaleidoscopic lens. Visitors should be ready to see exceptional beauty, learn from a diverse line-up of designers and leading horticulturalists and enter a new gardener-centric experience that invites everyone at all skill levels to nurture a lifelong connection to plants and gardening. We are excited to offer a PRIVATE WINE & CHEESE RECEPTION & AFTER HOUR TOUR AT THE BARNES FOUNDATION. The Barnes Foundation houses one of the finest collections of 19th and 20th century French paintings in the world. The museum’s permanent collection features 181 Renoirs, 69 Cézanne's and 59 Matisses, along with works by Van Gogh, Manet, Degas, Seurat, Prendergrast, Picasso & more, set among ground breaking African sculpture and Native American ceramics, jewelry and textiles. We’ll have DINNER together tonight at one of Philadelphia’s great restaurants.
We’re back to the fabulous PHILADELPHIA FLOWER SHOW. Here’s your chance to finish shopping at the marketplace and see all you may have missed yesterday. Lunch on own before we head for home with our new treasured memories.
