Day 1
Lakes & Mountains - a perfect combination! Travel to the heart of The Adirondack Mountains, Lake Placid, NY to enjoy scenic beauty and great sightseeing. Lake Placid gained international fame as host of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games. Visit the OLYMPIC CENTER AND MUSEUM, sitting adjacent to the location of the “Miracle On Ice”. Exhibits and memorabilia transport visitors into the iconic past of the region and the Olympic legacy of Lake Placid. 2 nights accommodations at the BRAND NEW GRAND ADIRONDACK HOTEL. WELCOME DINNER marks our arrival.
Day 2
Experience the Gilded Age in the ADIRONDACKS today. Discover more than 200 years of Adirondack history at the ADIRONDACK MUSEUM. Explore the exhibits, watch a craftsman at work and stroll the gardens. Take a step back in time as we board the W.W. Durant as we learn the history of the region and enjoy a LUNCH CRUISE while you go by the wilderness estates of industrial giants. Return to Lake Placid to stroll Main Street for dinner on own.
Day 3
We depart Lake Placid and experience the history of America with a visit to FORT TICONDEROGA, an 18th century fort located on the shores of Lake Champlain and nestled between New York’s Adirondack Mountains and Vermont’s Green Mountains. March to the beat of drums, become immersed in life at the fort and savor the historic gardens. (Please note there is a moderate amount of walking required on this tour and also includes areas of walking over uneven / gravel walkways.) Visit to LAKE GEORGE VILLAGE for lunch and shopping before we head for home with memories of our trip to the Great Adirondack Mountains.
